Dragons in Dreams
Trying to interpret our dreams is an age old passion of mankind. Philosophers and thinkers
over
the centuries have compiled dream dictionaries and more recently psychotherapists and
nurologists have become involved. So, with all this body of thinking at our disposal, what
does it mean when we dream of dragons?
Unfortunately there's no simple answer. One problem is that the nature of dragon is
culturally sensitive - thus the Western dragon is
normally a fearsome, greedy creature whilst Oriental
dragons were more likely to be wise and bring good luck.
Even when we know the dragon type, there are still many things it could mean. A dragon
might be a symbol of great fear and problems - however if the dragon is slain then it
might indicate bravery and overcoming of trouble. Then there is the romantic element of
slaying the dragon not because it's a problem but simply to win the attention of the
princess. Or there's the stash of gold the dragon keeps - does the dream have something
to say about our prospects in the financial field? Dragon mythology is vast, hence dragon
dream symblism is far from simple.
So we can't really say that dreaming of a dragon means anything by itself. If there is any
meaning in the dream it's more likely to come from the context in which the dragon
manifests and how that relates to the life and circumstances of the dreamer.
