Real World Dragons

Do dragons actually exist in the "real" world? In the traditional sense of the word, the answer is unfortunately "probably not".

However there are a number of lizards and amphibians - both large and small - that might have inspired dragon legends and proudly bear the name "dragon".

Basilisk Lizards
Bearded Dragons
Frilled Dragons
Komodo Dragons
Australian Water Dragons
Chinese Water Dragons
Salamanders

These are all real lizards known to science. There have also been numerous sightings through the years of other lizard-like creatures which have yet to be catalogued by the herpetologists. This is the realm of cryptozoology, the study of unknown creatures.
